About the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative
The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity with the vision of advancing the social determinants of health and racial equity through healthy housing. With an emphasis on black and brown communities, GHHI delivers improved health, economic and social outcomes. GHHI supports housing, environmental health, and energy efficiency services for families in communities around the country, as well as conducting direct services in Maryland. GHHI’s delivery model is based on its data-driven philosophy that public and private social investments are optimized and social program outcomes are maximized when the energy, health, and safety needs of an occupied home are addressed comprehensively, efficiently, and simultaneously. GHHI’s employees are all expected to work by the organization’s operating values of assuming good intent, operate with transparency, deliver on time with excellence, and ensure racial equity and diversity are part of all policies, practices, and actions.

By delivering a standard of excellence in its work, GHHI aims to eradicate the negative health impacts of unhealthy housing and unjust policies for children, seniors, and families to ensure better health, economic and social outcomes for low-income communities of color.

Grant Manager
The Grant Manager will lead overall grant efforts including grant research, writing, program design and implementation, compliance and reporting. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Grant Manager will lead fundraising efforts to identify potential support from government agencies, foundations, corporations and other private sector partners to meet the financial and operational needs of the organization. The position will work to ensure that the grant process works effectively and efficiently, providing clear communication of proper protocols for approving grants, their specifications, requirements and objectives across all departments of the organization and management. Family Advocate Attorney
Our organization seeks an impactful self-starter who shares our core belief that every child deserves to grow up in a healthy and safe home, and that every aging adult deserves to age in place with dignity. The Family Advocate Attorney will be an experienced and highly motivated licensed attorney with demonstrated client advocacy and mediation skills. This individual will effectively protect tenants’ rights and advocate for the remediation of home-based environmental health hazards, such as lead-based paint and other housing defects. Additionally, they will represent clients in court, provide statewide training, and conduct home visits with families throughout the Baltimore region and occasionally elsewhere in the state. Housing Intervention Specialist – Lancaster County, PA
The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative seeks a Housing Intervention Specialist professional to coordinate housing inspections and housing interventions by private contractors to remediate lead hazards and healthy homes hazards in residential homes in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where young children reside. This key position aims to reduce lead poisoning, household injury and exposure to other home-based environmental health hazards in the homes of Lead Free Families Program clients. SVP Thriving Communities Grantmaker Program
The Senior Vice President must be a well-organized person with high integrity, affinity for our mission, and commitment to excellence. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Senior Vice President serves as the primary point of contact on all matters pertaining the TCGM Project. The Senior Vice President also serves as a liaison to the Region 3 TCGM Advisory Board, EPA, EPA Region 3 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center (TCTAC), and all project partners. Together with the GHHI team, the Senior Vice President will be charged with quickly building this initiative and then moving to execution in a manner that centers equity while ensuring compliance with federal regulations. New Jersey – Healthy Housing Policy and Technical Assistance Coordinator
Working out of GHHI’s Trenton New Jersey office, the Coordinator will play a lead role working with an interdisciplinary set of partner organizations and agencies to develop plans, educate stakeholders, and collaboratively pursue policy solutions to increase the stock of healthy, safe, and energy efficient housing at the state and local levels. Working with partners and GHHI staff, the Coordinator will play a lead role updating the New Jersey Lead Poisoning Prevention Plan, and upon completion, will actively work with partners to advance priority policy recommendations identified through the planning process to prevent lead poisoning and increase the stock of safe, healthy, and energy efficient housing among low- and moderate-income households in New Jersey.
