President and CEO’s Message: Applauding Governor Murphy and New Jersey Legislature for Allocating $170M for Lead Paint Remediation

July 1, 2022 – The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative applauds Governor Phil Murphy and the State of New Jersey Legislature for allocating $170 million in the state 2023 budget for the remediation of lead-based paint hazards in homes in New Jersey. I testified in support of this legislation and increasing resources to end childhood lead poisoning which is critical to achieving our health and racial equity goals.

Governor Murphy has made a strong commitment to addressing lead hazards in the homes of children and families throughout the state and this substantial new funding demonstrates his Administration’s continued efforts to end the toxic legacy of lead poisoning and to provide our children in New Jersey with the ability to come to school ready to learn and with the opportunity to reach their full potential.
