Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Receives Federal Grant to Build Pay for Success Field

Baltimore, MD – Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) announced that it has received a federal grant from the Social Innovation Fund, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service totaling $1.77 Million. This grant will support GHHI in providing developmental support to SIF-supported Pay for Success projects that address the social determinants of health.
Through this process GHHI plans to build capacity of project partners and share knowledge and tools to advance the PFS field. GHHI’s ultimate goal is to foster high-quality evidence-based models that efficiently connect funding to meaningful health, economic, and social outcomes for people in low income communities.

The Social Innovation Fund (SIF) is a powerful approach to transforming lives and communities that positions the federal government to be a catalyst for impact – mobilizing private resources to find and grow community solutions with evidence of results. In 2014, the SIF reinforced its commitment to support innovative solutions and change how public and private sector investors allocate philanthropic resources by launching its SIF Pay for Success Program. This $30-plus million grantmaking initiative helps cities, states, and nonprofits develop PFS projects, which tie funding for social services to its true impact in the community.
GHHI has 30 years of experience in fundraising and delivering high-quality evidence-based services – Witnessing too often the detrimental effects of underfunding services that address the social determinants of health. In response, GHHI is developing a national cohort of health-related PFS projects. Under this grant, GHHI will graciously support the advancement of SIF-supported PFS projects. These projects provide evidence that their services produce significant health outcomes while reducing costs to the system. GHHI will advance projects toward launching PFS transactions and scaling these services for the communities that need them most.
