Ruth Ann Norton of the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Receives BPI’s 2016 Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry

Austin, TX, April 5, 2016 – Today the Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) honored Ruth Ann Norton of the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative by naming her the 2016 recipient of the Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry, at the ACI National Home Performance Conference in Austin, Texas.

Norton was nominated by industry peers and selected by an independent panel of impartial judges for her tireless efforts to integrate energy efficiency upgrades with healthy home interventions on a national scale. As President and CEO of GHHI, Norton’s work in 25 cities across the U.S. has helped make thousands of low-income families safer and healthier by improving the health and safety outcomes and energy efficiency of their homes. Most recently Norton designed GHHI’s Pay for Success (PFS) Asthma Project Model and is developing Pay for Success projects in Baltimore, Buffalo, Grand Rapids, Memphis, Salt Lake and Springfield. GHHI is advocating to include energy efficiency interventions in the PFS models.

The Tony Woods Award is an initiative from BPI in honor of Tony Woods, former president of Canam Building Envelope Specialists Inc. and ZERODRAFT®, and a pioneer of the home performance industry. During his career, he served as a volunteer board member with BPI, ACI, as president of the Ontario Building Envelope Council and on more than ten standards committees dealing with air leakage control, air barriers, ventilation and more. Woods passed away after a battle with leukemia in 2009.
