Green & Healthy Homes Initiative is Named to the Advisory Panel on Housing and Energy Efficiency for New York State’s Climate Action Council

August 26, 2020, Baltimore, MD – The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York Department of Environment Conservation (DEC), the co-chairs of the Climate Action Council (CAC), have announced appointments to multi-sector Advisory Panels, which will support the CAC in creating a scoping plan to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2030 and 85 percent by 2050.

GHHI will be represented on the Housing and Energy Efficiency Advisory Panel by Jamal Lewis, MPH, who will work with housing and energy experts from government, non-profit and private sectors to draft recommendations for the Council. Mr. Lewis’s engagement around energy efficiency and healthy housing in New York State includes his work representing GHHI on the New York Energy Efficiency for All Coalition.

GHHI is proud to contribute to New York State’s national leadership in this effort and recognizes the connection between emission reduction strategies that combat climate change and our ongoing work to advance racial and health equity in housing.

“Housing, now more than ever, supports families’ health, stability, and long-term ability to thrive. We look forward to working with partners to ensure that New York State’s most vulnerable residents receive the benefits of investments in residential energy efficiency.”

-Ruth Ann Norton, President & CEO
