Healthy Home Evaluator Credential Launches Nationally

October 6, 2016, Malta, NY – The Building Performance Institute (BPI) announced the nationwide launch of the Healthy Home Evaluator (HHE) certification. Developed in partnership with the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI), the credential will help the nation’s healthy housing, weatherization, and home performance workforce conduct assessments in homes to determine conditions that may adversely affect occupant health and safety.

HUD Announces Proposed New Lead Safe Housing Rule

September 1, 2016, Providence, RI – The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative joined U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD’s) Secretary Julián Castro and U.S. Senator Jack Reed at a press event here yesterday, where Castro announced a proposed amendment to HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule, critical to reducing blood lead levels in young children who reside in federally-owned or -assisted housing.

Jackson, Mississippi Awarded $1.2 million in Lead Based Paint Hazard Control

July 21, 2016, Jackson, MS – Yesterday Jackson, Mississippi was awarded a $1.2 million in Lead Based Paint Hazard Control grant and $150,000 in Healthy Homes supplemental funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of Jackson, a Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) site, is a first-time HUD lead hazard control grantee and worked closely with GHHI Jackson to secure the funding.
